EXCEPTIONAL CARVED CHINESE STAND
We are offering for sale a RARE EXCEPTIONALLY FINE FENG SHUI BAGUA antique carved hardwood Chinese low stand / table.. Packed with Positive ENERGY.. Starting with a Beautiful TO DIE FOR shaped inset polished (I believe to be) Red and Yellow Jasper ? top.. Came from an older South Central Pa. estate.. Sat in same place for decades.. Selling as found in the RAW – did not clean.. FRESH TO THE MARKET!
QUALITY MASTER CRAFTSMANSHIP
Early quality furniture craftsmanship.. Thoughtfully designed.. GREAT PROPORTION.. Attention to detail.. All original and untouched.. Pegged and mortised construction.. Symbols and Meanings : 8 Points (8 is the Luckiest number in China and is associated wealth or being well off) in the shaped Jasper (a grounding stone, instills a feeling of wholeness, serenity and being cared for) stone top with Black Pearl (symbolic of wisdom, “pearls of wisdom”) edge and RARE carved paneled border featuring 4 different floral / plant leaf designs 1.Cherry Blossoms (power, feminine dominance), 2.Bamboo (modesty and loyalty) 3.Chrysanthemum (happiness and vitality) 4.Lychee (romance, beauty and good luck).. All panels were thoughtfully carved and motif connects from panel to panel – see pics.. TO DIE FOR gorgeous inset shaped Red and Yellow Jasper.. Two thick pierce carved decorative friezes.. 1. Top showing auspicious clouds (a good omen and good luck) 2. Lower showing Pomegranate (symbol of fertility) both are pegged together.. Bottom shelf is plain.. solid and intact…. Thinking this table may have been WEDDING gift for a Family Bonsai Tree…. With the shelf used for valuable shears and instruments?.. Top of shaped cabriole legs with carved Swallow (invites good luck and is linked to femininity and beauty) with ring (devotion, fidelity and eternity) in its beak and cherry cluster (prosperity and fortune and its round shape symbolizes the reunion of family and fiends).. Ending in slipper feet.. So much to look at, reflect on and appreciate!..
PIECE OF HISTORY
Exact age and origin unknown but appears to be early to mid 1800s? maybe earlier? Your comments are welcome.. On the underside it looks like the Jasper is being held in place by old animal hide glue? Stand is solid and sturdy showing appropriate oxidation, wood shrinkage and checking.. I have bought and sold many of these carved Chinese stands throughout my 50yrs in this business and have never seen one of this age with such attention to Positive Inspiration in design, and quality.. Don’t miss this one..
